Definition of Music Therapy: Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program. It is an established health service similar to occupational therapy and physical therapy and consists of using music therapeutically to address physical, psychological, cognitive and/or social functioning for clients of all ages.
Who Metro Music Therapy is: Metro Music Therapy, LLC, provides music therapy services to children, adolescents and adults in the Metro Atlanta area. It is our mission to offer the most current and innovative therapeutic practices to help every client reach success by using music to achieve non-musical goals. Our board-certified music therapists work closely with your child's other therapists to ensure a well-rounded approach to treatment. Typical goals addressed within a music therapy session may include: social skills, communication, speech and language skills, academic concepts, behavior, and physical rehabilitation.
